Mobilisation of a joint is a hands on movement performed by your physiotherapist using a graded degree of force to glide the surfaces of a stiff joint. The rhythmic glide encourages movement, the relaxation of muscles in spasm and lubrication of the joint.
Manipulation is a short thrust treatment performed at the end of your available range of movement. Used to break down scar tissue/adhesions, remove a blockage in the joint and to restore full joint movement.
